Halloween Is Here Once More…

So Halloween is here once more
Time for me to open the door

The sun is setting in the west
Now until dawn there’ll be no rest

The bats are flying from their cave
I’m fine with that because I’m brave

A zombie’s dropped in for a drink
She sure reminds me of my shrink

My friend the ghost is coming home
She’s wearing clothes made out of foam

I’m glad she’s not really a ghost
Even gladder that I’m her host

My friend the witch is at her best
She loves teasing and she’s a pest

I’m glad she’s not really a witch
She’s adept at flicking a switch

Not a switch that turns on the lights
But rather one that deals love bites

The pain she casts is exquisite
She knows just what to do with it

There's one I love who's far away
My love for her will never sway

Maybe she’ll come to trick or treat
I'll get to show her how I greet

Such a greeting she’ll not forget
And she'll not leave once we have met

Halloween is a special time
It awakens rhythm and rhyme

I could go on and on and on
But you’d get bored and soon be gone

So let the moon reveal her face
And show the wonders of this place

I can see you have a fetish for make-believe. Strange, but I like my visitors to be sans costume so that I can check every freckle and mole. Dress up may help the dysfunctional, but I have no need for those artifacts. As for little kiddies playing make-believe characters. That's okay. As long as all that candy doesn't give them a tummy ache.

A fun poem anyway, in spite of your predilection for the other half.
