A story about Noah and I, a humoristic side of life and rain,
"I know it's been a long time since you build an ark but I have a feeling you
haven't lost your eye for pairing up animals and picking good firm wood.
Is there any chance that God would let you out on good behavior and come
give me a hand to build a second ark? The rain keeps pouring out of the sky and filling our rivers like there is no end. Would you? Could you?" I
wrote in flourish as I slept soundly in my bed.
"Jippitty Pippers I'm on my way. Hurry on girl go fetch them frogs in your
well." This is what I heard before the alarm clock rang and I woke with a
buzz in my head. I got out my rain boots and started meandering outside.
I plucked two lovely froggies from my well and put them in a bucket.
A loud thunder cracked the sky and a booming voice was heard from on
high. "Two giraffes, two monkeys, two chinchillas, remember two by two"
"You've got to be kidding me" I said to a grey slit sky. "Where do you think
I live at the zoo?" The answer came firmly and soundly piercing through the
rain and landing on my game. "There is strength in numbers and you can't
leave anyone behind. Now get to it girl, there is lots to be done."
I sat in my garden and watched as two birds alighted on the branch
by a soakly pine tree. They flitted this way and that and chirped a song of
joy. "Say, would you two lovely birds like to come with me to the river?"
They softly winged their way to me. One sat on my right shoulder one on
my left knee. "Jippitty Pippers" I heard Noah say excitedly from the portal
above. Then I heard Jesus giggle, "what is he doing? " I asked Noah
"Jesus? Oh, he's dancing round heaven singing raindrops keep falling on
their heads"
"But why?" I asked. He replied....
John 4:14 " whoever drinks of the water I give will never be thirsty again. .”
So I held out my tongue and gulped a few rain drops. "Thank you Lord Jesus"
Then I drove to the Zoo to get more animals, two by two.
The End.
I would put this in the humorous category. The story of Noah and the ark has one very serious flaw. The animals described are the typical zoo animals, representing a minuscule percentage of animals the world over. There is no mention of insects. Perhaps the most important species, because insects provide protein for most animals and birds. And the birds are domesticated birds making the whole story more like a children's story rather than any great lesson for adults. Unless, of course, those who wrote the Bible think that stories like this have to be watered down for simpleton readers.
