There was a time in my former life that I was quite involved with the Jaycees... an organization of young men who felt they could change the world. It was a wonderful experience and did a lot to help me develope as a human being. We had fun, fellowship and learned many lessons well.
In thinking about this the other day I recall our meetings were always conducted following 'Roberts Rules of Order'... a book intended to be a guide for conucting meetings and and making decisions as a group.
Now... as I continue to age... I realize we waste a lot ot time talking to one another about absolutely nothing... as we socialize and especially at meeitings where every one talks at once That is a shame... although it does make meetings short. It also accomplishes nothing. Better we should take a tip from Mr. Robert and keep things in order and the topic germane.
So.. let us not waste our time. Let us sieze the moment and remember!.. lost time can never be found.
Not too loud for me. I feel lucky that I didn't want to a club like the Jaycees. While they may do some good deeds in the neighborhood, they are social, career climbing clubs and not really necessary.

Robert's Rules don't always apply but do set sense of decorum and fairness even though some of the procedures are time wasters as well. The best meetings are those that allow everyone time to say something but not hog the conversation. The worst meetings are those where the moderator/boss does all the talking like a dictator.
