This article is a testimony of God's blessings and God's faithfulness in my life. There is a fervent emphasis on our great need to receive the life and power of the Word of God into our hearts and lives (Matthew 4:4, Romans 4:12).
The King James Bible says that "We love Him, because He first loved us" and that "God is love." Yet how many Christians are resting in the love of God? When we are secure in God's love, we can enter into His rest . The rest of God is not retirement. There is no retirement in the family of God. I believe that we enter into the rest of God by giving our hearts and lives to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, knowing that Jesus paid the full price for the forgiveness of all our sins and our reconciliation to God the Father. We couldn't save ourselves. Now Jesus' blood has washed away our sins; the Holy Spirit has made our bodies His temple: we are new creatures in Christ; and when we sin, we confess our sin in a repentant spirit and God immediately forgives us. We are blessed, and the fruit of the Spirit is growing and ripening within us (Galatians 5:22-23). We are accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6-7), children of God led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14-15). I believe the fruit of the Spirit is evidence that a person has entered into God's rest in this life on earth.
Entering into my prayer closet, I'm in a place of blessing, peace and safety. I thank and praise and worship God and lift up my requests to my "Abba" with thanksgiving; and I fellowship with my Father in heaven. By the grace of God, prayer is no longer a chore for me; it's a blessing. Although there are potholes of distraction and rocks of unbelief along my prayer path, I step over them or walk around them. I know that God wants to hear my prayers and praises! (Revelation 8:3) My "Abba" is "the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3). "His tender mercies are over all His works" (Psalm 145:9). God knows me better than I know myself and loves me more than I love myself. Even when I was in rebellion against Him, God was watching over me.
So, when God told me, in 2009, to "write a book," I began writing. I started slowly and like Abraham, not knowing where I was going. After writing forty pages of an autobiography, though, I knew I was going in the wrong direction. I wasn't able to classify the book in a Christian category until some time after I had finished it. I now believe that the title and subtitle are accurate in revealing the themes and the thrust of this book.
I believe that "A Place in the Son: Fitly Joined Together in Love and Growing in Christ" (SON) contains blessings and benefits for every reader. The kind of person who will most appreciate SON is probably the seeker of truth. I believe that every person's greatest need is to find truth and reality and then live one's life according to those truths and realities (Colossians 1:5. James 1:18). Jesus Christ is "the way, the truth, and the life" and The Reality of the Ages. Certainly, this wicked world that we live in is full of lies, deception, escapism, fantasies and ungodly distractions. I urge Christians to stir yourselves up, based on Christ's words in Matthew 4:4: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." This Scripture pertains to "man," meaning "mankind," every human being.
It is vital for every Christian to rightfully divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Eternal life is priceless, and there are in the body of Christ many opposing beliefs, even about eternal life. I dare not trust any human being in this area. For my own sake and the sake of others, I must study the Holy Scriptures with the help of the Holy Spirit and prove the harmony of the words of God to myself. I pray that, partly through SON, sincere seekers of truth will acquire an endless hunger for the Word of God. We can receive the life and power of the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) into our hearts and lives and live the abundant life in Christ.Jesus said that He came "that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10 KJV).
