In an earlier article I talked about my impressions and experiences regarding parental influence on their unborn children. In this article I discuss the corresponding spread beyond just parental influence to any who create the emotional atmosphere that leads to mental programming and the subsequent decisions and actions.
Central to creating an emotional atmosphere that influences the decisions and actions of others and yourself is the relationship between belief and biology – also called the mind-body system. Day in and day out you and I make decisions and take actions that result in psychological and physiological changes in our bodies. These changes play out in interpersonal relationships, the financial standing, health conditions and creativity. Most often we are unaware of the decisions and rarely do we connect the decisions to their corresponding results. Why is this so? So many of our decisions result from mental programming. Some scientists refer to subconscious awareness. So, our mental programming, which started in the womb, is primarily negative and limiting. It is so much easier to find fault and vilify others than it is to see and articulate the virtue of others because of negative programming, you just can’t help yourself. It’s what you do. I can talk about this because I have examined my own thinking processes and found myself wanting. Yes, it is an ongoing process and I find evidence of my own negative programming everyday. Fortunately for me, I set up a system by which to detect negative programming underlying things I say and do so I can dismiss it and reprogram that dimension of my being.
So you might know I was tremendously delighted to find the Lipton blog on parental influences on the developing fetus. You see, Dr. Lipton engaged in research for years, making revolutionary strides in neurobiology and the interaction of biological organisms, the environment and the influences of thought, perception and the infinite healing possibilities within the body. Through his research in stem cells and the individual cell, he moved beyond the “old biology” with its genetic and biological constraints.
Taking his research into the quantum science arena, Lipton clearly showed the strong association between emotions and genetic expressions, describing processes by which emotions regulate genetic expression. In a lecture Dr. Lipton gave I saw detailed and graphic illustrations of how messages transmit to the genes causing them to turn on and turn off. I had obtained information during my recent masters studies in chemical dependency counseling featuring neurobiological processes that prepared me for Lipton’s research findings in this area. Because my nature is to see the relevance in everything I review, I examined myself utilizing his findings. In first person present tense I can say my reactions to stresses and threats stir the release of toxic chemicals in my brain and body causing genes regulating growth, repair and restoration to turn off and those regulating efforts to survive – fight or take flight – to turn on. Taking into account the forebrain-hindbrain discussion, I see how this applies in the developing fetus as well as at any stage along the life span, including my own stage of development and evolution.
I am especially impressed with the way Lipton integrated science, medicine and philosophy into his programs of research. He details his processes in his books, written for public consumption, and makes reference to his scholarly research for those wanting more details. I liked his approach probably because of my own programming which played out as a multidisciplinary program of study for my doctorate and my ongoing work over more than four decades in what is now called the power of consciousness.
