While I am not aging--yet, I have retained caregivers (currently three) for 23 years. Caregivers are special people that are under paid for their extraordinary service.

I would highly recommend that anyone who is aging, or their family, if necessary, considering hiring caregivers in the elderly person's home. This is especially true if the elderly person is fully capable of managing their own affairs, but physically having difficulties requiring help. The cost of having help like this is about one half the cost of going to a group assisted living and the person getting the care is able to remain at home, set the schedule for care, and not have to go on the facility's schedule.

Of course, careful background checks will be needed to determine that the caregiver is not going to try to take advantage of the situation.
