Audio Book of "Crystal of My Heart" just released 6/15/2009 7:50:29 PM
Over the past several years my mother has been suffering from glaucoma and macular degeneration, and as a result has been experiencing a reduction in her eyesight. She is still able to read for short periods of time, but unfortunately it is becoming increasingly difficult for her. In fact, due to her condition, she has to have injections in her eye every six weeks. (Something that makes me shudder just to think about) Because of her medical issues, it made me more aware of those who love to read but can no longer effectivly do so. Thus, I set out to turn my first book, "Crystal of My Heart," into an audio book. I chose this book because it was my first novel and because she tells me the main character, Careen, reminds her very much of me. In fact, she said she could insert my name in place of Careen's and with very few exceptions, everything about the charater is exactly like me. I even wrote and recorded a song to go along with the audio book--complete with an instrumental track as well as a vocal track--narrated the novel myself, and I am thrilled to announce it is finally completed. As I'm sure most everyone knows, audio books typically sell for about 45% more that the printed books, but because I was able to keep my costs low, I'm able to offer it for less than the retail price of the book. It is my hope that this will help those who have trouble focusing on the written word for longer periods of time, or who simply do not have the time to sit and read. After all, we all need to be able to escape this crazy world and enjoy ourselves from time to time.
