Islam teaches Brotherhood and the Equality of Humanity. No Arab is better than a non Arab, and no white is better than a black, was our Messengers last Sermon to his followers. And teachings he brought to humanity say: The most honored with Allah are the Pious, and neither race nor class will give you a place in Paradise. (Quran: 49:13)
Have you ever asked yourself why so many black Americans and Western women are adopting this faith with their eyes wide open? And why was it that the first followers of Muhammad were mainly the down-trodden, the slaves, the poor and the uncorrupted young? Muhammad's first followers were
1. a woman
2. a former slave
3. a child of ten
4. a sincere man
That's why I love Islam, not because it was forced on me, but because I just love being told that my Lord is One. That I am a mere mortal whose life here on earth is nothing but a test. That I alone am responsible for my actions. That Muhammad is simply a Messenger of the Lord, as was the Son of Mary before him as was Moses, David, Solomon, Adam, Abraham, etc. etc.
I also like to know that the only sins I am carrying are the ones I make myself, not Adam's or Eve's sin, that no one died for my sins. That God is one and does not have any sons, daughters, brothers or sisters. That He is the only Maker and Sustainer of this Universe. That He is in full control of His world. That what I see around me today, the wars, the conflicts are relative, and not absolute happenings. That things do change, the day follows the night. After difficulty comes ease. And that I am a free human being who must only bow her head, heart and mind to the One who created her. And to none else. I find this very liberating.
