For my NaNo novel I had wanted the word "scar" in the title because the main character has a scar that is the driving force to propel him to seek revenge/vengenance. I was playing around with words, and really liked how Landing Scars sounded. I didn't really know what it meant at the time, other than I wanted to convey that even upon birth, we are all born with some sort of, not "scar", but a mark that we carry with us. So I was looking at birth as Landing, and Scars as the mark...
Well in my writing group yesterday we had a prompt exercise where you had to choose a photo, and then write a scene based on that. I choose a photo of a pile of cars in a junkyard (see photo below).

As I was mapping out the scene (to be written next week) in the middle of my scene in the junkyard, out of nowhere a plane arrived, and I realized there had been a crash in the field where the junkyard now stood, and the boy had witness the wreckage. That this ties into my title is such a coincidence, and I didn't fully realize it until I had written the prompt. That the title is almost a metaphor for the boy's life, for the boy's outlook on life and his scar...
Anyway, just wanted to comment on the creative process, and how it is weird that sometimes bits and pieces will come to us - sometimes out of order like a patchwork quilt. I love when that happens.
