Blogs by L. G. Figgins Everyday Miracles 3/25/2005 12:10:10 PMThis is one... In the large bed in front of my house, stands a stunted dogwood tree planted decades ago. It is like a bonsai, never growing but continuing to live and putting forth leaves. It is stunted bacause the the soil in which it was planted in is mostly clay and its roots cannot spread. My father trucked in loads of clay soil from near the river to make the bed. Evergreen plants and trees thrive, but sadly nothing else. I have been meaning to move this sad little tree to a spot where earthworms have churned the soil to pure gold, but haven't yet...This morning, I was looking out of the large window in my living room and saw flower buds on that same tree! This is no small thing, as it hasn't bloomed since the year my sister, Cheri, died--1998. Now, some people may not see things the way I do.
