When I first encountered this word, blog, it was as foreign as an oriental calligraphy character. When I saw a link for a particular Web Log, I knew whence the term came. Sooo...
It has been a long, and not very fruitful day. To bed this morning at 3 a.m. after finishing laundry and catching up on e-mail and posting. Up at 7:30. No idea why, just wide awake. I did nap later as I knew I had a city council meeting to attend for the Tribune, the newspaper for which I cover parts of four counties in south central Nebraska and north central Kansas.
The meeting produced some interesting information and not much else. Nothing really of note to write about. The one piece of really astounding news I can't put in print. Apparently, the part-time help at the recycling center in the town I went to received a death threat last week when her hours at work were increased. Now, there is a story in there somewhere. Just haven't figured out where yet.
The rest of my day was pretty average. Cooking, cleaning, letting the boys (our dogs, Tiny and Rufus) in and out about 1,000 times, and chasing and cleaning up after Cayte, our Siamese. Roo, the Manx, and Sunny, our mixed breed short-hair, don't between the two of them, cause as much havoc as Cayte.
I'm off to bible study tomorrow morning then back home to work in my Rubber Room. I am an avid rubber stamp and collage artist. I have a small workroom we are remodeling. It's in our huge garage. We recently moved to different house here in town and since it is only a one bedroom, I had to move my stamps and other craft items out of the house. This room in the garage is perfect. We just need to finish putting up the shelving, the insulation on one wall and the wall board to cover the insulation. Also intend to install peg board for handy hanging. I'm so excited about it. It is the first time I've gotten to design a crafts room just for me. There is an attic in this garage with an electrically controlled door and lighting. I am determined to set aside some space up there for very quiet reading and writing.
Since there is only one bedroom in the house, we plan on making one end of the attic into a guest room of sorts for when our children come home to visit. We will need to do some finish work and then install and air conditioner and a small space heater but I think it can be made quite cozy. That probably is where I will slip away to when I want some real privacy. No telephone, no television, no pets, just me, a thermos of coffee and a good book or my journal.
