I hate the word blog. Maybe that’s why I haven’t written much. The word reminds me of boiling oatmeal when it’s quite thick already and still on the heat. The bubbles of oatmeal coming up and exploding like little volcanos seem to be saying, “blog, blog, blog” with each explosion before splatting down again to join the rest of the mass in the pot. Steam is rising from the little volcanos.
Is that bad? I’m not sure. The oatmeal is done when it gets to that stage. Why do I resist that analogy when I am thinking about writing? Maybe I’m not sure what will splat out. Maybe I want a finished product right away. Maybe I’m not sure what I am thinking and am afraid to allow myself free steam to vent what I am feeling.
Well, today I feel like I didn’t accomplish much. It was too quiet of a day. Can’t I ever be satisfied? Some days are too busy. Can’t think creatively on such a day.
Today I planted lettuce and beans early in the morning before it got too hot. I also did a little weeding After that, I came in to take a leisurely bath before our noon prayer meeting at church. Usually when we are done at church we have some errands to run and some other places to go but today we didn’t. So we went to Fry’s just to get some ice cream. What a waste, eating stuff that is nutritionally inferior just to have some place to go.
I did finish writing my retreat article. It is titled ‘In the Garden’. I think it is quite good. I submitted it to Faithwriters. I’ll see how it fares there. After that I will probably post it in Authors Den.
I need to upgrade my membership at Authors Den to gold. That’s when I will get myself listed as a featured author. I want that in order to raise my visibility, to sell more books.
I talked to Ann Wyatt at church today. She is the librarian. She is in the process of getting my book okayed for inclusion in the church bookstore. She says people have been asking about it. That’s good.
Pastor Al wants me to bring copies of my book to the next seniors meeting. He says he wants a copy and I’m sure others will too.
I have been thinking a lot about things that Jim said last night about emergency preparedness. At first, I didn’t think his buying property some place by the San Pedro River was such a good idea. It’s all desert out there. But Harvey said that over there one could pound a sand point in anyplace and get water. If society were to break down, water would be of utmost importance. Maybe Jim’s idea is good after all.
I have been thinking about vegetables that would be good to grow on limited supplies of water. Those would be tepary beans, corn, squash and amaranth. One could get used to that.
I spent this afternoon reading that UFO book, filling my brain with stuff for my possible article for the AllaboutGod website. I have to formulate what I really believe.
Harvey is hungry now. It is 6:00 P.M. and time for supper.
I guess it has been a busy day after all, just not a running around day.
