I don’t like people who dominate a conversation or a party. I wonder what drives some people to do that?
I experienced a party like that last night. I came home feeling bad. In order for a party to be enjoyable and fun for everyone, there needs to be equal give and take in conversation all around. When one guest dominates the conversation, the other people present usually will try to top her. Then it becomes a contest of who can top that story. Nothing meaningful gets said. Also, in a situation like that some people just sit on the sidelines and don’t say anything. I don’t think they are having any fun.
The lady I’m talking about didn’t even make sense in a lot of stuff she said, but she was adamant that she was right. I made the mistake of asking her a question. That led to an hour- long speech, which was nothing more than bragging.
I don’t think I want to get to know this person any better.
