The O.C. does Mexico

Tequila, Tree saving, and a nice little setup...

Few things in life get me excited, but one is an episode tagline that reads “Seth to meet new friends in Mexico”. This means there is a good chance three things will happen 1. Tequila will be involved 2. The “Sombrero” stereotype will be overplayed 3. Sandy will be disappointed in Seth.

Going into the show I was excited, but also realized this was more than likely a “setup” show. The O.C. really only has three types of shows: “setup” shows where they lead up to an event, climax shows (the event itself), and then the random holiday episodes (see: Chrismakuh) that often have nothing to do with the current story.

With another new episode airing the next night this had all the makings of a “Setup” show. I’ve digressed.

Wasting no time Ryan and Seth are off to Mexico to find Volchok.

Unfortunately Summer is still on the show. She is back in RI and now Taylor is there. Ugh. This is not good. I can’t say this enough, Summer needs to just GO AWAY for good (which from the episode may finally happen), and then Taylor needs to develop a drug habit and become more strung out, and not so uptight. She’s done the cover of Maxim so I’m sure she’s actually been strung out at least once. I’ve digressed again.

Meanwhile, in Mexico Seth (who apparently is becoming almost as smart as Sandy) outsmarts Ryan and allows Volchok to get away. Notice how long it took Volchok to make his decision to leave? I wouldn’t want to live in Mexico either.

Sandy and Kirsten travel to Mexico to find their 35 year old “boys” and being that Sandy is all knowing (from this point forward he will be referred to as God) they find them and then take them home.

At some point during the show I must have inhaled some fumes because the next part I remember is Summer camping under a tree.

The show ends with God confronting recently deceased Marissa’s mother over the PI she hired to track down Volchok. Ryan and Seth have a staring contest.

The previews for the next episode show Volchok coming back to speak to God and Ryan throwing a punch. I’m going out on a limb here and saying he’s throwing a punch at Seth. You just can’t screw over your brother like that without some repercussion.
