Sometimes even the simplest idea goes wrong I'm not the vain type, ask anyone who knows me, but when it comes to photographs of myself, I do prefer to use one that isn't likely to frighten small children on a dark night.
With this in mind, I've been trying to find something suitable to upload here at AD. I had one that was taken at a mediaeval wedding that wasn't too bad, but when I looked at it on one of the author lists, it had been widened to an astonishing degree - frightening for the aforementioned, I thought and so I decided to try to find another. A couple had been taken on the ferry back from France last year and I tried one of those out. The trouble was, the light was a little strange that day and peculiar shadows chased across my face, giving me the appearance of a fine, dark moustache and hint of a beard. Again, a little worrying for the little ones. Then I found the current photo and, as I was going through the upload, I noticed an option to resize the photo (something I normally do myself, but had forgotten). Oh good, I thought, I'll give that a go, and I did. Clicked all the relevant buttons and got the most enormous image that took up the entire screen and more. I tried again and got a slightly smaller one. It's still big, but I'm getting tired and so it must stay for now. Sorry if small children have their sleep spoiled. I promise to get it put right tomorrow.
