Here in Bogota, the Colombian capital, a female univ. student got in contact allegedly via Facebook with 2 guys who lived in Medellin, Colombia's 2nd largest city. So they talk back & forth a week or 2 and she starts letting down her guard, if indeed she had one to let down. So, it seems she invited them to come to visit her here in the capital. She lived a few blocks from where we live, actually. (We've seen the police photos of the guys and they look greasy spoon, like cruddy type guys. (That's one problem and another story- one's taste in guys or girls) Nothing to write home about, that's for sure. So, the guys arrive in Bogota and go to visit this girl. She lets them in her apt. where apparently she lived alone. Seems her family is from eastern Colombia (Villavo) so that's why she was living alone here in the capital. Neighbors & other interested onlookers noticed the girl stopped going in & out of the apt. while the 2 guys didn't. They continued to go in & out of it. So, there were witnesses. Plus some security cameras got the guys on tape. (The family had by now reported the girl missing. Police went to investigate & found the girl dead in her apt.) That helped the police to capture the guys. Plus, news sources said some of the family and/or friends of the guys sort of ratted on them. (Thank God). So, to make a sad story shorter, it's true we have to be careful with these social sites such as Facebook and others. But we have to be careful anyway wherever and whenever. This student really & truly knew very little about these Medellin guys. They could have fed her any number of lines and probably did. Why did she live alone? Not so many students in Colombia live alone or can afford to live alone. We all know that. Also, if she lived alone, why did she invite guys who were practically strangers to her place? That's a move risky enough even when you don't live alone! Unfortunately, she paid for taking that risk with her life. But it's not really a "Facebook" murder. It's a murder cause a girl met some guys (and we meet people so many different ways), made unwise choices and exposed herself to danger. And these were simply BAD guys!
