Get A Handle On Your Holidays 9/21/2007 12:53:53 PM
Yikes,
Summer is barely over and I get so mad when I see Holiday decor in the stores three month in advance.
Are they wishing our lives away? I'm thinking, they just might.
When it comes to Christmas, I prefer giving a handmade gift. I sewed pillows in the past, made goofy photo iron-on t-Shirts, painted something, stuff like that.
This year my family will get a nice collection of my poems. (Psst, don't tell them)
I don't get carried away with all this holiday hassle and bustle. The Friday after Thanksgiving, I'm staying home and exercise the extra calories off from the turkey dinner the day before. Although I'm sure the people who storm into the stores to catch the gifts on sale their loved ones couldn't live without, burn away a certain amount of calories pushing the over filled cart through the isles.
OK, I think I painted the picture. Here is my idea of early bird holiday shopping for this year. It has a little bit to do with promoting myself. Hey! At least I admit it!!
Why not give a book, written by someone you know, as a gift? It comes autographed, gift wrapped, and gets send to the receiver you so generously included on your holiday gift list.
