Real Sailors Don't Wear LIfevests Far at Sea* 8/24/2009 5:56:06 AM
*{metaphor only; not to be taken as actual sailing advice} Why do we hang on to "evil" (ignorance)? Like a person adrift in a vast ocean from which he can never be found (far from land and there are no islands upon which to be cast) We sometimes cling to the one rotten timber of our sunken ship, only to prolong suffering. (Or maybe you are so lucky not to suffer in this world) An unjust luck indeed. I've noticed there is no rhyme or reason to suffering. The good-hearted man often suffers more than the carefree, "all for himself" fellow.
When a real sailor sails trans-oceanic he knows that he is in "unforgiving waters". If that one storm comes that wrecks his little boat of the body, he manly tries to prepare to cast aside the "prop"; or like Quint in "JAWS", the real captain hands out his remaining life vests to his crew, but for himself he dons none!
For those who dare (few indeed) Good LUCK sailing far from shore!
