This week in author news
I hope you had a good week, but I bet I've had more fun than anyone I know. I actually signed a few copies of Janeology with my special, super-author pen!
After striking out trying to get an interview with any magazines – local or otherwise – I finally landed one in People. WestPlanoPeople that is. Okay, not so big in your town, but in mine, you can grab this free mag in a doctor’s office or places you buy your beer, groceries or a toasty sandwich, which of course, covers my target audience - Sick, beer drinking, sandwich-seeking, bibliophiles. The fine people at WestPlanoPeople sent their photographer to my house for a quick author pic. Puff. Puff. Let me stub out my cigarette, now, and finish this blog.
One of my Kunati Books mates, Dave Diotalevi, just launched his book trailer for Miracle Myx, a genre-bending mystery, this week. The plot really has me curious. The protagonist can smell colors and feelings. ("her hand smelled pink with carved curls of green") I’m rooting for Dave! Here's the link to his trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9kaWeWekwQ
For all those who can’t get enough book trailers, I stumbled upon a great new site called www.watchthebook.com – where you can, watch the book. Anyone can submit his/her trailer FREE!
And in pre-pub news - A former EDS co-worker of mine walked past my local Barnes & Noble and spotted my mug and book cover in the window the other day. This prompted her to call a friend of mine and verify, Is this the SAME Karen Harrington? (As if there was any other – excepting the woman who owns karenharrington.com and wouldn’t sell her web address to me!) When I left EDS, after 14 years, my generous hubby indulged me and let me take off a few months to write before returning to cushy corporate America (or in my case, Greyhound Bus Lines).
I remember my last day at EDS, when I told a friend, "I’m taking off work for a while to finish my novel."
