One thing leads to another. 12/9/2007 6:58:55 AM
I was returning from an intensive weekend learning about the deeper meaning of dreams. The first part of the journey was quite uneventful. Then on the last (of a total of 3) plane ride, the trip became filled with mystery.
I am very very claustrophobic. I panic in small spaces. There have been times that I have to literally run away from a physical place in order to calm the feeling of being confined in to a tiny place. I have a "happy and spacious" place that I focus on whenever I feel claustrophobic. This mind game that I play usually allows me to remain calm and stationary.
The last plane ride to my home town was a little plane. This plane was almost full and my seat was on the very last row by the window. In this particular style of plane, the chair backs are higher that other small planes that I have been on. This high back further confined my space and view. I was tired and emotionally drained from the intensive 4 days of deep emotional work that dream work required. Before I could go to my happy space, I broke out is a cold sweat. I became nauseous and dizzy. I remembered that I needed to focus on an inner space to keep from breaking into a run for the exit. I was attempting to focus and it was taking all the energy I had left. I was terribly afraid that I would have a full blown panic attack. The plane was too small for me to get out and the isle was still filled with passengers boarding. I had literally no where to run.
The last passenger came in and his seat was on my row (which because it was at the end of the plane had 4 seats). He became pushy and belligerent to the lady and her child next to me. He demanded that she move herself and her child to the window seat. He then proceeded to "tell" me to move to the seat that was in the middle of the back row. The lady and her child were angry but they did not defy this stranger. I gladly moved to my new seat, as the view from this new seat was a clear view of the entire isle of the plane. I could actually see the cock pit. What a relief! My panic attack subsided and I felt that God had answered my prayers through this angry and belligerent man.
We strapped ourselves in and listened to the stewardess describe all the safety features of this small plane. As the plane began to speed down the runway, suddenly it began to shimmy and slide. The once gunned engine for take off began to change speed. Of course the well trained pilot returned to the terminal. We deplaned while the experienced maintenance crew made needed repairs. Before we re-boarded, several persons refused to get back on because they did not trust that the plane was safe to fly. I had no problem getting on the plane again as I was at peace that my Divine Lord was in charge of my flight home. I did arrive home safely. My luggage was not so lucky. It went another direction for a few days until it could find its way home. So that is a long explanation of my trip home.
