What to do with the used bows and gift boxes after Christmas? Are the Holiday cards tossed into the trash? How could it all be recycled? Where do the gifts that were too small or possibly not wanted go? How much useable trash goes to the
What else can be recycled? I have several friends who share birthday cards and gifts. We have the fun of recycling the gift box as well as the actual card. It is meaningful to see our names written on the same card so many times. The recycled cards are a reminder to us of how precious friendships are.
My daughter and I have a "thinking of you" card that we send back and forth. Over the years we have sent this same card to eachother so many times that there is hardly any room left to put another name. This card has come to represent the connection that love brings to us. It is now time for us to buy a new card so the passing on of love and compassion can continue. We have a sense of sadness as we contenplate putting this treasured card asside. when we have processed the sadness, we will purchase a new one and continue the cycle of compassionant friendship. I am blessed to have a friendship with a daughter. She has her own life in another state and I have mine. But the bond of mother/daughter is stronger than distance or time.
Recycling brings to the forefront of menory the gifts of love.
