Have you ever searched the Bible for dreams? 2/12/2008 3:19:07 PM
I have found the study of dreams in the Bible to be fascinating. I had no idea that there were so many references to the language of god spoken to his people in this way. I share below a brief listing of the ones that I have found. The Bible is full of scriptures that refer to dreams. Here are a few:
Genesis 15:1, 15:4 “After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. A son coming from your own body will be your heir.”
Genesis 20-3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, "You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman."
Genesis 29-2 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Genesis 37:5-8, 9-11, 18-32 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, "Listen to this dream I had…For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
Genesis 40:9-13 So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream.

Numbers 12-6 he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams.”
Numbers 24:4 the oracle of one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened:
Judges 7-13-14 Gideon arrived just as a man was telling a friend his dream. "I had a dream," he was saying. "A round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent with such force that the tent overturned and collapsed."
1 Samuel 3:9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 1 Kings 3:5 God gifts Samuel with discernment to be a just judge. At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."
Daniel 1:17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
Daniel 2:1 When they came in and stood before the king, Nebuchadnezzar said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.
Daniel 2:26-27 The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), "Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?" Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. Matthew 17:1-3 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Matthew 27:19 While Pilate was sitting on the judges seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
Luke 1:22 Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple. When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.

Luke 9:28-36 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
Acts 2:17, " 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on al people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
Acts 9:3-9 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
Acts 10:3 One day at about three in the afternoon, [Cornelius] had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”
Acts 11:4-8 Peter began to explain everything to them precisely as it had happened. “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I had a dream.”
Acts 16:9; 18:9; 23:11; 27:23 Paul’s night visions
Acts 16:9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
