Today I am suppose to do some pre release marketing efforts. I feel a bit lost in the public relations world. I never thought about the necessity to market my novel, only about writing it. I would much rather be at the keyboard hacking away at another piece of writing. I can come up with a million and one excuses why I should not go about the marketing business.
So my question is: What do other authors do to market their work? Do they hire a PR person? Do they go out door to door to the local bookstores? Do they send out press releases?
I have decided to hand deliver press release announcements along with my business card and a book marker to local book stores. I have set a time to meet with a local critic and will be giving them a pre production copy of my novel to review. I have a website.
What else would you do?
