Harvest Fest stories 11/5/2007 4:17:24 AM
reprint from my web site of blog I attended the local Harvest Festival in my home town this weekend. I went not as a spectator but with the idea of finding some interesting stories. And boy did I.
It is amazing to me the wealth of knowledge and hidden stories there are all around us if we just open our eyes.
For example, I was speaking with a woman at the Pregnancy Care Center booth asking about the programs and what the volunteers did. A young girl overheard me and when I turned to go on to the next booth, she stopped me and asked if I wanted the real story of what they did. We sat for over a half hour (until her baby needed her attention) and she quietly told me her story. Sometimes reality is more interesting and awe inspiring than fiction could ever be.
My point is be aware of your surroundings all the time. You never know where your next story might come from or who might share it with you.
