A fitting end... 11/20/2008 10:53:12 AM
My heart is full today...full of hope and faith and gratitude. I spoke with my dear friend Guesno last night. He runs the Foyer de Sion orphanage in Haiti. He was in tears as he told me about a family who had come to Haiti and spent a few days visiting the three orphanage buildings that he manages. At the conclusion of the visit this generous family told him that they would like to grant him the money to complete the new orphanage that has been under construction for 4 years.
This new building will house all of the 250 children that he cares for, under one roof. More importantly, they will be able to use the $25,000 that they have been spending on rent on the children instead.
I told him that I was so happy for him and that I knew that this is what he/we had been working toward for eight years... His reply made me cry too...He spoke of how difficult the past year had been with struggling to even feed the children because of the shortage of food and funds, but that He knew that the Lord would take care of them. He said that the Lord had shown His hand tonight to show that He loved them.
Guesno is an amazing man filled with an incredible amount of faith. When he speaks, I have no doubt of the truth of his words. What an example to me of someone who patiently waited on the Lord...through eight long years of struggle...and yet he never gave up...but just humbly kept serving the children of Haiti in his quiet unassuming way. What a fitting end to his struggles and what a glorious reward for waiting upon the Lord...
