If you take your time, and look at things from a different perspective, you can create a totally bright and positive result out of your shame and embarrassments. As I am trying to grow in my poetic accomplishments and style, I am experimenting with different styles, formats, etc., and revising some of my original works.
I am told that all great poets continually review and edit their works....and I do want to be a great poet....writer, and person....so I am doing just that by opening myself to experiment and grow.
The original of this poem was one of my least favorites, and in many ways, a naive embarrassment for me. So a new friend and coach of mine pointed out some things to me that made me go back and re-work it using an entirely different style. This forced me to create a totally new poem from the old one.
I must say, I am kind of proud of it...and I feel like I have grown in many ways through the revamping of something I almost tossed away.
That just goes to show, if you take your time, and look at things from a different perspective, you can create a totally bright and positive result out of your shame and embarrassments.
Feel free to check out the original (under the same name, without the "revised version", and tell me which one you prefer, or any other relevant comments regarding either one.
