The old adage that only two things are certain that we must do in life, die and pay taxes, is true but perhaps should be appended to deal with the reality that is certain for most baby boomers....change in roles. It is certain that we all must die, at least one death, and that we must all pay taxes (or go to jail eventually), but what is even more certain that we must attend to, without much choice, is the fact that baby boomers are now aging, and confronted with dealing with reality issues more than ever, whether choosing to or not. The care-free, flower-powered, free love and free choice people finally have to be responsible, intellectual, care-about-important-issues now people.
Some of those reality issues that are unavoidably looming are the challenges of aging, health-wise, ego-wise, morality-wise, setting role-models for children, while taking care to give our parents dignity and proper care and hospitality in their last years, while dealing with the immediate and soon to be now issues.
Be careful in your choice of actions, decisions, role-playing, because what you do now could directly relate how you will live out your last days, financially, heath wise, or in personal relationships. Sooner that you think, your life and choices will be in the hands of your children, or other caretakers.
Perhaps this is where the "Karma" thing comes in, or the real "flower power", and "free love", but in an entirely new thought provoking "trip". Here we are, our own clever words, coming back to bite us in reality...."love it or leave it", "I really love you man", "Peace, love, and soul", and most vividly without a doubt, "Reality Bites".
