The Year Of Big Changes 3/19/2007 11:54:31 PM
Each year, I try to come up with a "theme" for the goals I want to not only set, but conquer throughout the year. I not only name the "theme" but I also try to come up with an inspirational, fittingly appropriate "theme song". Each year, I try to come up with a "theme" for the goals I want to set, and conquer throughout the year. I not only name the "theme" an all-inclusive goal oriented, catchy, sort of motivating name, but I also try to come up with an inspirational, fittingly appropriate "theme song".
This seems to keep me motivated throughout the year, and positively entertains my nagging thoughts of self-doubt, depression, defeatist attitude, etc. with hope, tenacity, and pride of accomplishment.
It also gives me just that little edge I need to keep pressing onward and upward in the things that matter most to me in life, and the obstacles that currently seem so major, and then so minor at the end of the year, when surveying the pros and cons of this process and it's past results.
When things seem a little overwhelming or discouraging, I think of my theme, start singing my theme song (to my inner self, and sometimes out loud, or sharing it with a friend), and things suddenly seem conquerable, manageable, friendlier, and not so scary.
This gives me strength, and if I can do the things I've done in the past times of my life, I can surely do the things I have set my hopes and dreams on in the future of my life, starting yesterday, and continuing infinitely.
How can I say infinitely? Because the things I set my goals and energies on today, the results of such, will continue on with me long past this world and into infinity. Oh yes, they will be major and minor milestones in this race of life, but only the things that remain after this world is gone, will be my greatest achievements...and yours, when you set your goals high enough to look down through the clouds, and keep the Son shining above your head.
Have a great year ahead of you, and next year, behind you, infinitely!
