Real Champion to Me! (For Rockie)
When I first heard his name, a prize fighter came directly to my mind.
His name was a combination of fighters on a Madison Square Garden Sign.
I pictured Roy Campanella and Rocky Gratziano all combined into one.
Sometimes I do this thing with names for it’s so enjoyable and fun.
Then one day my imaginary fighter left a tender, gentle review.
And I had to rethink my thoughts and believe me, there were few.
His words didn’t fit the picture that my imagination had created.
So who was this sweet man, a fighter, a poet, my mind thought belated?
Whoever he is, a fighter or poet, it really doesn’t matter to me.
For I had the privilege to read his outstanding and artistic poetry.
It held me enthralled from the beginning, beautiful, lighthearted and free.
All I know is I saw his heart and he’s a real champion to me.

This Fox Can Fly (For Ted)
People say he’s a Fox & say this Fox can fly?
To me he seemed very normal, just a real great guy.
But then as I got to know this intelligent giving man.
I saw why they think he can fly and I now understand.
He flies with untold generosity, wisdom and care.
For when people need help, he is always there.
He swoops in with answers with all clever desired info.
When your need is then answered, he picks up and goes.
He continues on his way to spread interesting news.
And he doesn’t stick around for any real thank you’s.
He has no need for thanks, for he has much more to do.
He helps many along his way and may be coming to help you.
He guides you to the information and assistance that you need.
Wanting nothing in return for this Flying Fox has no greed.
What a loving & caring man this man is and he is always there.
The very one asked God for, when you knelt down in prayer.
His poetry’s amazing about any and every subject he knows.
They continue to draw us near, by lifting us from our lows.
We love you our Flying Fox so be careful as you soar.
We need your wisdom here but we need you a whole lot more.
