A new book I read: I have just finished William Styron's Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness. If you are not familiar with Styron's work; he has written such novels as Lie Down in Darkness, The Long March, Set This House on Fire, Sophie's Choice, and a host of others. He has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the American Book Award, The Howells Medal and an assortment of other distinguished accolades. Now to my point.
Styron also suffers from acute clinical depression. In this book, and I have read a book case full, a written a memoir on Combat PTSD / First Person; Styron brings any person who has suffered from clinical depression on to the couch with him. In reading his book I quickly discovered why I am writing in Author's Den and Styron has the awards he has. The book is the best I have ever read in taking a fellow suffer of clinical depression, mine accompanies my Combat PTSD, and brings the feelings, the physical pain, the little old man shuffle step to life.
