I am concerned about the contents of pet food and pet treats we give our family "pet" so here are some things to fix for them. The pet treat recipes below were in our local newspaper on April 4, 2007.
Doggie Meat Balls or Strips
1/2 pound groundbeef
1/3 Cup grated cheddar cheese
1 Carrot finely chopped or grated
1/2 Cup bread crumbs
1 Egg, whisked
1 tsp. tomato sauce
I put everything in my mixer and blended it well. Then I rolled them into 3" strips instead of balls and baked them for 30 minutes in a 350 degrees oven. Drain any remaining grease, place them on paper towels to cool and then refrigerate.
NOTE: I do not have a cat but the recipe was in the newspaper and it might be something you could fix.
Feline Feasts:
1 Cup water
1/3 Cup dry rice
2 tsp. Corn Oil
2/3 Cup Gound Meat
1 tbl. spoon cooked liver
Bring water to a boil, add rice, corn oil. Simmer 20 minutes. Cover the meat with bonemeal and liver to the rice mixture. Simmer 15 minutes. Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.
There are many things you should never give your pet: SALT, GARLIC, ONIONS, GRAPES AND CHOCOLATE.
If any of your canned or pet treats list PROPYLENE GLYCOL...don't feed it to them. It is used in antifreeze according to some of the web addresses. Do a web search on bad "food" ingredients for your pet. You will be amazed at what they put in dog and cat food! If humans can't eat it...it's got to be bad.
