The Trouble With Tuesdays 9/22/2009 10:50:55 AM
I categorized this as Drama because my Tuesdays are usually full of drama. Back in my days of junior high school I came upon a realization: Tuesdays are not good days for me! I must admit that this realization has caused me to be a wee bit superstitious about Tuesdays. I truly believe that Tuesdays are the unwritten part of Murphy’s Law… you know, “If anything can go wrong, it will, and at the worst possible moment (and that moment will probably be on a Tuesday)” (parenthesis part added)
I have developed this whole theory about Tuesdays. Most people dread Mondays, but I believe that because of that dread, people prepare for it and therefore Mondays generally aren’t as bad as we expect them to be. And since that Monday was not so bad we let our guard down and naturally assume that surely Tuesday will be even better… And THAT, my friends, is precisely where the problem starts! Tuesdays arrive and just come and slap us on the face! I guess they feel it serves us right for being cocky.
The real trouble with Tuesdays is that Tuesdays don’t always fall on the third day of the week. They can occur any day of the week, although rarely on Fridays; but when they do fall on Fridays… OH! Watch Out!! Because, when a Tuesday falls on a Friday, it is a doozy of a Tuesday! The other real problem with Tuesdays is that they are sometimes contagious, which means that it is possible to have several Tuesdays in a row, or even a whole week of Tuesdays. I guess that technically you could have a month of Tuesdays or even a whole year, but I’ve never met anyone who has experienced either of those… maybe it just means that there are no survivors when that happens… :~)
All of this leads me to the real reason for this post. Today is Tuesday, and Tuesdays are not to be trifled with…
Last week my Wednesday (which is also a relatively rare day for a Tuesday) was a terrible Tuesday, as we received some rather frightening news about our daughter, Ahna. She visited an orthopedic doctor whom she had been referred to for what the first doctor thought was carpal tunnel syndrome in her right hand. After doing several tests, the doctor felt that carpal tunnel syndrome could be ruled out and ran a couple of other simple tests to determine the problem. Because of the results of those tests he is quite concerned that she could have a neurological problem that is causing the symptoms in her arm/hand. He ordered an MRI and follow-up with a neurologist as soon as possible.
Ahna is 8 hours away, living with my dad, as she attends college. Yesterday, my father took her to Boise to have her MRI done, and now we are just awaiting the results and trying to determine where she should see a neurologist…10 hours away, or here, and how all of this will affect her schooling, etc.
So… as you finish up your Tuesday, I hope that you will keep us in your prayers…that there will be no more terrible Tuesdays in any of our lives…
