Toni moves to Seattle from a small town in California to start a new job at a technology company. Melanie is her eleven year old daughter, who has to adjust to the move. Toni and Melanie befriend Joanie and her children through Victor, who becomes Toni's husband. After a tragedy hits one of Joanie's children, they have to come together in love to keep each other strong is this upcoming novel of love and grace.
Excerpt from Chapter 1:
CHAPTER 1
The end of summer had crept upon the small town of Topeka and the time was finally here for Toni and Melanie to hit the road for Seattle. Toni took a job as a secretary in a large technology firm in a suburb outside of Seattle. Melanie had lived most of her life in Topeka, a small town in California. The thought of moving to the city scared her and she did not want to leave. It was late afternoon when Toni loaded the last of their things into the car and directed the movers where to take the furniture when they arrived in Seattle. Melanie could not hold back the tears as she looked back walking away from the house that sheltered them those years. Just the thought of leaving her friends behind lingered to Melanie as Toni started the car and they drove down the road out of town.
