Looking Back and Looking Forward 1/1/2012 3:56:59 AM
I have so much to be thankful for in 2011 and now I look forward with as much hope and joy as was fulfilled for me last year.
A year ago I did not feel so hopeful. I was still recovering from a very serious illness and wasn't sure if I would ever be able to get on with my writing again.
However, I did improve drastically and have had a wonderful year.
My book, Highway of Holiness: Soul Journey, was published in May 2011. Wipf and Stock was the publisher and they were extremely kind and helpful through my illness, allowing me to have a three month extension on my deadline.
Also, in 2011, I had a paid article accepted and published, something that I haven't done in a number of years. I was very happy with the photo that went along with this article.
I really tried hard with the marketing for this book. I wanted to go all out with that. In the end, though, I had to admit that I didn't have the stamina and instead said a daily prayer wherein I asked God to take my book where it would best serve the world.
Until I get my royalty statement later this year I will not know how well my book has done. I am not really worrying about fame and glory, though I have to admit that it would be nice to be recognized and known for my work in writing. The most important thing for me is that people will be helped and that God's name will be praised through my books.
With much misgiving I have entered this book into the The Word Guild contest for best non-fiction book in two spiritual categories. If nothing else, this will allow the judges to read the book.
I do not intend to write more books. There is so much more I want to do. I have so many artistic talents and there is not time to do them all. However, I keep my options open. If God asks me to write another book then I will follow where his guidance leads.
I thank God for his leading in 2011 and look for his continued grace in 2012. To God be the glory.
