One Night with You

By Lady A and Jack Roberts

~ his thoughts ~

To Touch Her Pretty Face

Looking through the raindrops, as they fall upon the glass
My mind goes back to visit that brief moment from the past
It was at this very place while waiting for my flight
They said that due to weather we were grounded for the night

So being stranded by myself without a thing to do
I wandered to the restaurant to have a cup or two
The place was full of people, all wanting to get home
And in the crowd a table, where a lady sat alone

I asked the lady if someone was sitting in this chair
And said that if she didn’t mind, I’d like to join her there
She asked me to sit down just as nice as she could be
She said, “I’m glad you showed up I could use some company

I thought she was the cutest gal that I had ever seen
She had a very pretty smile her eyes were soft and green
The pretty features of her face were framed by auburn hair
And it was all that I could do not to sit and stare

We sat and talked the night away, my newfound friend and me
We talked of our lives now and past, our homes and family
The night we spent was perfect, as if it had been arranged
Little did I know my heart was being forever changed

Morning came, the storm was gone, the planes again could fly
I held the lady’s tender hand and sadly said goodbye
The expression on her face will be forever in my mind
As I walked away and left the one I’d grow to love behind

Now every time I close my eyes, her eyes are what I see
I can hear her sweet angelic voice, the words she spoke to me
A love within my heart for her grows stronger everyday
If I had that night and had that choice to make again, I’d stay

Now I find myself here at the airport once again
Trying to find my way back to that night from way back when
The restaurant still looks the same each table in its place
I wish I could go back in time to touch her pretty face

But time can never be turned back, what’s done is in the past
I am haunted by the memory of a night that went too fast
And now it has been 20 years, an eternity it seems
Since the night I met the lady that comes to me in my dreams

~ her thoughts ~

Airport Coffee Two Ways

Twenty years can go so fast, or drift just like a dream
With yesterday forgotten, the days fly bye.... it seems
Yet images of long ago, remain within my heart
Grounded in an airport, is where my story starts

All flights that night were grounded, so I had time to kill
Passengers were pacing, while others sat so still
I needed to stretch my legs, take a look around
Smelled a pot of java , freshly roasted ground

Took a sip, relaxed a bit, and then to my surprise
A stranger asked to join me...I nodded my reply
Ever have the feeling, you've done this once before?
We looked so right together, in the reflection on the door

Quickly we connected, we strangers side by side
I felt so warm and cozy, while thunder roared outside
We talked about our families, our jobs, and all our dreams
Even shared a bowl of double scoop, coffee ice cream

Then the weather cleared, and our flights were back on track
I should have trashed my ticket, I wish I could go back
To stay, with him forever, to feel so right and free
A moodbreaker with a tailwind, came flight 253

Everytime it rains now, I make a silent wish
Scoop out coffee ice cream, two spoons and just one dish
Sometimes I feel like someone, is thinking thoughts of me
I wish that I had never boarded flight 253
