Poem Artwork

If the hands of time could be turned back,
Where is it you would go?
Would you seek a place you’ve never been,
Or a place you used to know?

Would you take your journey back in time,
To relive a special day?
A day spent making memories,
That too quickly slipped away.

Would you tell a special someone,
What you wish you’d told them then?
If you had the way to go back to,
That point in time again?

Would you go back to your childhood,
Just to take a look around?
And recall forgotten memories,
That no longer can be found.

As you travel back into the past,
Are there things that you would change?
If I could show you how to get there,
Are there things you’d rearrange?

Would you seek the voice of someone,
Lost so very long ago?
Would you tell them that you love them,
Just in case they didn’t know?

Perhaps we’d seek out all the memories,
Slowly fading from our minds.
If we could but for a moment,
Turn back the hands of time.

I'd love to go back in time - make several things unhappen and harsh words unsaid. But I guess, in the end, it would not change the things.
Wonderful write.

Wonderful poem, beautifully put. In my current state of mind, I wish I could traispe back to when my parents and my sister, Helen, were alive and just 'freeze' time. Then, alas, I would miss knowing my son and grandson . . . so it would, doubtless, be just a long reprieve from the realities of death, diseases and depression.
Thanks for the moment :)! I'm not sure which is harder--growing up or growing old.
Love always :)Sandy

Powerful and searching, Jack. At times, yes, I would like to go back, maybe change some mistakes I've made, but then what? Like Kate says, I am what I am from what I've lived. I wonder how many really would go back if they could...

A wonderful poem Jack, it does make one think, but in reality - No I would not want to go back in time because I would not want to relive the bad times as well. What chaos if we all started re-arranging things too. Jackie <> <

No I would not want to go back. My life is difficult, but each piece that has lead me to where I am, is part of who I am. I would not want to take the chance of changing that :-) I have enjoyed how you have written this wonderful piece!

Oh Jack such interesting thoughts, but I don't want them to go back to all the agony and hurt of loving someone so deeply that it drove me crazy. No I would want them to move forward away from hurt and agony to a tomorrow where my search would end and I would find what I searched so desperately for with her; knowing she didn't really love me after all, but loved a dead memory. Jack,
This poem is very special. I love it, but I, for one, wouldn't want to go back. I want to stay right here in the present. My memories are enough.
