Pencils Do you prefer that pencils be Hexagonal or round? The former kind roll rattlingly The latter with smooth sound If you drop a six-sided one six corners catch Like a playing-card stuck in a bicycle's spokes In the case of a round one it's best just to watch The smooth rollaway finish its orbital strokes One is a railway sound track meeting wheel In mechanical clickety-clack The alternative concept a ribbon of steel As a thing in itself not a track Round pencils seem warmer and calmer to me With their rotund suggestion of ease While pin-striped hexagonals urge industry And impatient when dropped buzz like bees I've always loved pencils embraced them each day They're artistic especially observed in the round They're tactile constructions of graphite and clay Clad in cedar smooth friction their method and sound I distrust computers my typewriter's dusty For formal occasions I use pen and ink A well-sharpened round pink-topped pencil is trusty To patiently write down whatever I think +Steven Curtis Lance Copyright MMV Silke LLC

not a fan of pencils. dig pens, but found the blood of a new born works best.

Me I like the colored pencils for doing detailed work on some of the cameos that I like to do in polymer clay. But as for choice I got used to square ones because they don't roll off and my dog chews them up when they hit the floor.
