"It had to be like this I always knew"

Poem Artwork

It Was Always You

So here we are finding ourselves alone
After all these years unexpectedly
And yet expected because always known
Since this is how it is with you and me

It had to be like this I always knew
That you and I would be alone at last
For those who tell the future from the past
Could always tell that it was always you

Since this poem is so short, I am including an extra feature with this post, the latest, greatest portrait ever of the famous Freddie Noodles, taken just yesterday morning by one of my tenants.

Here we see Fred demonstrating how he makes a drinking fountain of the bathroom faucet.  He bounces the water off his paw in just a certain way, and the water must be just so, at a certain rate of flow.

Everyone who lives here knows what that is, and, when asked, "thirsty cat?" and he is, we turn on the water for Freddie to his specifications, and give him the right of way in the bathroom, as he hops up on the sink.  I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I do:

Yes, sometimes circumstances prevent us from...well...seeing the object of our heart's desire. But, if we're just patient...everything seems to work itself out, doesn't it? Nice work.

This is great, but it does feel like it ended so soon? Perhaps another verse? Great write.
