Great Mother

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Sunday, February 28, 2010

My eyes
as they view
upon the world
are gentle.

What harsh forces I see
of destruction
heartbreaking as they are
I view with understanding.

I see death present
in everything.
As the taker of life
but also as the giver
of new beginnings.

A double edged sword
a universal balance act.
It will continue on
until the inevitable end of time.

I feel great sorrow
for those who are lost
and those who have lost.
And I will do my best
to help.

But I place no blame
on our great mother.
I will do my part
to assist her living
beyond our death.

Indeed, she just keeps doing her stuff.
Well written and balanced penn.

Elisabeth, "Great Mother", Mother Earth as we call her here in America -- gracious lady of giving and taking -- a lady often abused by her inhabitants -- your perspective is wise beyond your years my friend -- peace and love be with you -- JM
