Solar eclipse

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Friday, March 5, 2010

Though days may sometimes be dreary
and life a little hard to comprehend.
Bills may pile up
while paychecks are downsized
and at that moment your car
probably breaks down;
just because...

And it seems like the universe is
waging a war on
your tired soul.
You may feel old
and out of breath..
So ready to
lay down and die..
The tears streaming from your face
turn in to a river of cry
and all you want to do is
scream and wail
and set your emotions free
like a frightful gale.

It's at that moment
you need to sit down and see
that the best things in life are free
matter matters less
because in your most vivid reality
your car is just a hunk of steel
your house
though important as it may feel
if lost would not cause half the calamity
as loosing your spouse.

Cars and houses can be regained
but true love is not as easily obtained.
Ride out this hurricane to
because when times are blue
remember;
it's just a solar eclipse.
