Wolf At The Door

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Howling, scowling,
caressing, gently pressing.
Thought-fingers prowling
forcing seductive reassessing.
Bringing harsh imagination
piercing stage curtains.
Stirring unwanted emanation
desire to chasten.

Champions come forth
make haste.
Truth is a double edged sword
bitter to taste.
Not fitted for all
for some have found their glory,
in a different call
and heed another story.

Respect for each and all
important now listen,
let small voices grow tall
let all thoughts glisten.
Fear not opposition,
take it to heart.
If steady your position
it will not cause you to part.

Stand your ground once you decide to act. There can be no wavering.
