The Forsaken

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Name the forsaken,
the lost and the weary.
Smell the dawn
of bloody souls on parade.

Name bitterness
foultasting loudmouthed
dreary..
Smell gluttony
of overpowering vices.

Name crowns gained
and lost.
Hand held tight
around death roll dices.

Name numbness
sought at any cost.
See bloody corpses'
dark charade.

Ask and you shall receive.
Hide that Ace up your sleeve.
Watch it all come back to you
like a mighty tower
crumbling down down down
on you....

Intense!
This line is so ominous and something threatening lurking in the dark.

"Ask and you shall receive. Hide that Ace up your sleeve. Watch it all come back to you like a mighty tower crumbling down down down
on you...."

Nice write.
