Tired

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Heavy limbs,
numbness spreads.
My eyelids weigh
a ton.

It's time to greet
the sandman.
Time to snuggle close
to you in bed.

If I can only get myself
out of this couch,
I'll brush my teeth
then dive right in.

But I keep nodding off,
in your arms.
Drooling on your shoulder
and on my chin.

I don't know
I think I'll stay here.
I give in,
comfy sofa bed you win.

Eileen calls it "chair sleeping" as in, did you fall asleep in your chair last night AGAIN!!!! Always the sheepish, yes maam is the reply. That chair is a sleep magnet. Can't help it. She ain't buyin' it. Patrick

If I could just sleep it would be great. Even with sleeping pills I can't go to bed and sleep all night.

LOL It is amazing when we get to that state of comfortable bliss where we don't care where we are as long as we can just lay there and sleep...
