Aerial View

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Same difference everywhere
when scrutinized from up here,
once to big to overcome
now petty and small and outgrown.

It seems that difference
is merely reference
faux paux.

Close up lead to discomfort blinded,
aerial view instead to open minded.
Understanding and tolerance
air out ignorance.

It seems that understanding
is merely demanding
holistic approach.

Dear Elisabeth, Your idea is very well expressed. To see clearly one has to take a few steps back. Thank you for sharing. Emile

Interesting perspective I must say...it would be great if when confused or uncertain everyone would rise above the occasion and see the overall view from all eyes...

I had an aerial view when I was about to jump out of a tree one day. It was so high, that it took my breath away. I could see things more clearly and decided it better not to jump.

Ciao,

Interesting and profound poetry. Our petty and not so petty problems in the world, if looked at from this aerial view would have a better chance of being resolved. But then, it's all according to what is in the heart when we take that look. For many a hateful heart would override the reality that we are all from the family of humans.
