Stormy weather

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Inspired by a book I read recently.

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Sounds of time
hidden agony.
I fear no reaper
for I have travelled
brimstone covered roads.

The most coveted was the black rose,
the various layers of copper rust.
Peeled off one by one,
to uncover a core untouched.

Stormy weather,
puffed up feathers.
Yes, the harsh winds,
bore her name.

She put my mind at ease,
yes she did.
For my life was
a dark one,
the son of a socio-
my path was unclear.

When I met her
Stormy weather,
through it
my path was clear.

I don't know what the story is, but your writing is highly evocative and the idea of a path found through difficult times is described step by step, very effectively. Lovely choice of words.

This was written very well. The darkness mingled with light and the words of this poem are alive..excellent
