The Stage

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Monday, July 11, 2011

The stage is set,
the game face is on,
on cue,  the lines fall
one by one.
Predicting the outcome...

In silence I mouth the words
I know to come,
the script gives itself away
with every word you say.

I try to break the flow,
I go where you don't intend
for me to go.
I try to reach you,
to break through,
the masquerade designed
to make you blue.

I wonder,
is love enough
to end the show?

Your script moved "The Stage" in my direction Elisabeth. This is fine poetry with a message I understand. I bid you love and peace my friend. Jon Michael

Great ending--it really leaves the reader asking themselves more questions, good work.
