Golden Man II

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Golden man keep running, I'll watch your back trail off

always in a hurry, going nowhere fast.

I wont miss you

It's been a hard life trapped

in a gilded cage.

Watching all the peacocks brave

shout for acknowledgement

prance for embellishment.

It's been a strange life,

growing silent, growing sad.

Giving up, giving in,

giving everything.

Somehow it seems: never enough,

always to little and never with praise

only sinking in a bottomless pit

of no return.

Elisabeth, never compromise your credo for the sake of a man. The right man is out there and you will find him and receive the love and admiration you deserve. Be ever vigilant to guard against those who are not genuine and want to take advantage of you. This is a great poem written with compassion from the heart. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. . . . and don't let the door hit you in the . . . Good riddance. There is someone out there who will love and do right by you, and I hope you find him sooner than later.
