From boulders to mound

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Friday, October 7, 2022

Through the haunting cries of the wind
relentlessly chilling the moor.
How could the rain of my tears be heard?

Over the endless miles these feet has walked
how could the small steps of today
be learned.

Of the times and times again that my heart has been
severed to pieces
how could todays whole heart
be shown?

Out of all the horrors these eyes have witnessed
how could the blissful scene
of today be known?

Through all the fears this soul has passed
is it possible to believe that today
it' feels safe and sound?

The wounds of yesterday has passed
for a new morning has come
where my inner core is strength
and I'm no longer wound.

All the pieces that was has been
gathered together
to a beautifully stitched up
ragdoll mound.

Sometimes we feel lost within our worlds, as if we have lived too much of one lifetime and deserve better or have earned better. Life is filled with a roller coaster of highs and lows...we have to be thankful for the highs and ride out the lows.
