The Beltane ritual and the Unveiling of Seth

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

I have danced with the stars
through the endless nights
I have seen the unseen

with all of it’s might
I made a cross for you to bear
I made it out of the thoughts
our mind would never go near

Lady starhawk held the key
to help me open up your heart.
Release the Godess within
to free you from the dark
We danced in the night
hailed the lords of the west the north
the south and the east
We opened the door to the underground
to see our fears and purge our inner beast
But instead of mine I saw yours
by accident you left a crack in the door

Later with Lorene as the unveiling of Seth unfold
it gave way to another truth untold
I walked in on your vision darker than night
in a field of sunflowers and poppies so bright
as you reveled in it’s beauty and light
It was all yours for the taking
so willing and freely
still you laughed as the ground started shaking

A disease spread quickly to turn each and all
to ashes and ember
As it did you started to remember
You laughed and marveled at what you had done
You once had plenty of love and beauty
and now it was all gone
Because of you
and this you knew
You are the bringer of destruction
the bringer of death

And you don’t care at all
who will stand and who will fall
The world is yours for the making
it dances through the rythm of the music
your evil mind is creating
By each word and each glance you give
by your actions you feed your world to live
We all dance to your seductive rhyme
one by one we all go down in time

All this I saw and I knew
there could be no saving you
Only saving me
run like hell
to set me free

I might have doubted my vision had you not told me
exactly what it was that you did see
I never told you my vision was the same as you
in the end my self preservation came through

Thank you to the lord of the Underworld
for making me see
Now who did I see behind that veil
You might have guessed
it was me

Rather a bit too fanciful and dark for me, with a lot of blame thrown in.

However, the last line seeming to redeem the whole poem by you revealing who was creating all the darkness and despair.
