The narrative
controlled
by the subjective
will
always be slightly
off.

It matters not
for the story
is the gift
you're given.

Do with it what you will
and it will
keep soaring.

Passed expectations
into fortifications,
building space
where it touches
a soul.

Becomes a beating
throbbing
heart
away from home.

Nicely expressed, as writers and especially poets are words are offered with the expectation that the readers will interpret as their own...

Poems and stories are often misread. But I believe the reader, from the gist of the poem learns something new regardless of their interpretation, if I read you right.

"Passed expectations," could be read Past expectations and have nearly the same meaning, if I interpreted correctly.

Your last stanza speaks of being "away from home," but welcome. That must be what you are thanking everyone about.
